The Collector shall in like manner [except in respect of the said embankments on the right bank and left bank of the river Gandak,] [Words in italics are inapplicable to West Bengal.] charge or apportion the amount payable in respect of each estate upon or amongst the holders of the tenure therein rateably in the proportion of benefits so received or of area so benefited or protected, first deducting therefrom such sum as, on the like principle of proportion, is payable in respect of such portion of the estate as is not included within any tenure.
