Section 55(1) in Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University Act, 1996
(1)Every Dean of Faculty shall be appointed by the Vice-Chancellor from among the Professors in the Faculty for a period of three years and he shall be eligible for re-appointment:Provided that a Dean, on attaining the age of fifty-eight years, shall cease to hold office as such :Provided further that if at any time there is no Professor in a Faculty, the Vice-Chancellor shall exercise the powers of the Dean of the Faculty.
