(1)Every member of the service shall be required to pass the specified examinations as in Form XXIV within two years of his appointment in the service and if he fails therein, his appointment may be terminated notwithstanding any other provisions in this rule :Provided that the State Government may, in special cases extend the period specified in this sub-rule for a period not exceeding two years in the aggregate.
