- The canal-officer shall keep a register of all village-channels whether already existing or constructed under this Act, and shall note therein in respect of every village-channel whether it is a public channel maintained at the cost of the Government, or a private channel maintained at the cost of the owners; and shall register the names of the owners of every such private channel.
