- For the purpose of sub-section (b) of section 21 "maintenance" of a water-course shall include the construction of -(a)such masonry or other work as in the opinion of the Executive Engineer is necessary to prevent waste of water or damage to the channel, or(b)a pipe outlet in masonry or any other type of outlet arrangement approved by the Superintending Engineer for connecting the watercourse to the field channel.
