- In any room in which steam pipes are used for the introduction of steam for the purpose of artificial humidification of the air, the following provisions shall apply :(a)The diameter of such pipes shall not exceed two inches, and in the case of pipes installed after the date of enforcement of these rules, the diameter shall not exceed one inch.(b)Such pipes shall be as short as is reasonably practicable.(c)All hangers supporting such pipes shall be separated from the bare pipes by an efficient insulator not less than half an inch in thickness.(d)No uncovered jet from such pipes shall project more than 4½ inches beyond the outer surface of any cover.(e)The steam pressure shall be as low as practicable and shall not exceed 70 lb. per square inch.(f)The pipes employed for the introduction of steam into the air in a department shall be effectively covered with such non-conducting material, as may be approved by the Inspector in order to minimize the amount of heat radiated by them into the department.Lighting Rules[Section 17(4)]
