82. Entrustment of certain functions of State Government to a Panchayat Samiti.
(1)The State Government may entrust, to a Panchayat Samiti functions in relation to any matter to which the executive authority of the State Government extends or in respect of functions which, have been entrusted to the State Government by the Central Government and the Panchayat Samiti shall be bound to perform such functions. It shall have necessary powers to perform such functions.(2)Where functions are entrusted to a Panchayat Samiti under sub-section (1), the Panchayat Samiti shall in the discharge of those functions, act as an agent of the State Government.(3)There shall be paid by the State Government to the Panchayat Samiti such sum as may be deemed necessary for discharging the functions entrusted to it under this section.(4)The Panchayat Samiti shall, for the purposes of discharging the functions entrusted to it under this section, be under the general control of the State Government or any other authority appointed by it and shall comply with such directions as may from time to time, be given to it.
