Section 4(1) in The East Punjab Holdings (Consolidation and Prevention of Fragmentation) Act, 1948
(1)The [State] [Substituted for the word 'Provincial' by adaptation of Laws Order, 1950.] Government may, after such inquiry as it deems fit, provisionally settle for any class of land in any notified area the minimum area that can be cultivated profitably as a separate plot.
