Section 32 in Puducherry Buildings (Lease and Rent Control) Act, 1969

32. Penalties.

- [(1) If any person contravenes any of the provisions of sub-section (1), (2), (4) and (5) of section 4, sub-section (4) of section 4-A, clause (a) of sub-section (1) and clause (a) of sub-section (2) of section 7, sub-section (1) of section 8, sub-section (1) of section 17, section 21, sub-section (2) of section 22 or section 31, or any order under sub-section (3) or sub-section (3-A) of section 10, or sub-section (3) of section 17, or any of the conditions in the notification issued under section 29, he shall be punishable with fine which may extend to two thousand rupees.(1-A) Any landlord or the member of his family, as the case may be, who, after obtaining possession of a building under sub-section (3) or sub-section (3-A) of section 10, does not occupy it within one month of his taking possession or having so occupied, vacates it without reasonable cause within six months of such date, shall be punishable with fine which may extend to two thousand rupees] [Amended by Act No.8 of 1980 which came into force w.e.f 30.07.1980.].

(a)Any landlord who after the allottee has vacated the building before the date specified in the order passed under clause (a) of sub-section (1) of section 12, fails to commerce the work of repairs without reasonable excuse and any landlord or other person in occupation of the building who fails to comply with the order passed by the authorised officer under sub-section (6) of section 12, shall, on conviction, be punishable with fine which may extend to [two thousand rupees] [Amended by Act No.8 of 1980 which came into force w.e.f 30.07.1980.].
(b)Any landlord who recover possession on the ground specified in clause (b) of sub-section (1) of section 12 and fails to carry out the undertaking referred to in clause (b) of sub-section (3) of the said section without any reasonable excuse or fails to comply with the conditions and restrictions prescribed under sub-section (2) of the said section or fails to comply with the order of the authorised officer under sub-section (1) of section 13 shall, on conviction, be punishable with fine which may extend to [two thousand rupees] [Amended by Act No.8 of 1980 which came into force w.e.f 30.07.1980.].
(3)
(a)Any landlord who after the tenant has vacated the building before the date specified in the order passed under clause (a) of sub-section (1) of section 14 fails to commence the work of repairs without reasonable excuse and any landlord or other person in occupation of the building who fails to comply with the order passed by the Controller under sub-section (2) of section 15 shall, on conviction, be punishable with fine which may extend to [two thousand rupees] [Amended by Act No.8 of 1980 which came into force w.e.f 30.07.1980.].
(b)Any landlord who recovers possession on the ground specified in clause (b) of sub-section (1) of section 14 and fails to carry out the undertaking referred to in clause (b) of sub-section (2) of the said section without any reasonable excuse or fails to comply with the order of the Controller under sub-section (1) of section 16, shall, on conviction, be punishable with fine which may extend to [two thousand rupees] [Amended by Act No.8 of 1980 which came into force w.e.f 30.07.1980.].
