SHRI K. MALLIKARJUN KHARGE (GULBARGA): On the issue of growing fear and insecurity due to rising incidents of religious intolerance across the country, I have asked Shri Gaurav Gogoi to speak. So, kindly allow him.

SHRI GAURAV GOGOI (KALIABOR): Madam Speaker, I rise to speak on an issue of utmost importance. As you can see, I have the support of all my colleagues of my Party and I am sure of the support of all my colleagues across parties as well.
I rise to bring to the attention of this august House the growing fear and insecurity that people in India are feeling due to rising incidents of religious intolerance. Influential public personalities and persons holding constitutional posts are making purposeful remarks which are deliberately wounding the religious sentiments of people.
In Haryana, in the area of Hissar, a religious place has been desecrated, insulted, violated and disrespected, but unfortunately the Chief Minister is saying that it is all right because the religious institution lacks valid legal papers. How can they say in a country where we respect all religions, that a church can be desecrated and violated just because there are no legal papers? This does not seem to be an isolated incident. According to a National Executive Member of the BJP, who went to Assam, भगवान सिर्फ मंदिर में रहते हैं, चर्च में नहीं रहते हैं, मस्जिद में नहीं रहते हैं।

SHRI GAURAV GOGOI: Madam Speaker, this does not seem to be an isolated statement. ऐसे स्टेटमेंट बार-बार आते जा रहे हैं। प्रधानमंत्री जी के कहने के बाद भी ऐसे स्टेटमेंट क्यों आ रहे हैं?आज हरियाणा में जो हो रहा है, वेस्ट बंगाल में एक नन के साथ जो हुआ,असम में जिस तरह का वक्तव्य दिए जा रहे हैं, यह बहुत ही थ्रेटनिंग सिचुएशन है। जहां बहुत सारे लोगों और इस देश की आबादी के दिलों में भय है। आपको इसे देखना चाहिए। मुंबई के फॉर्मर पुलिस कमिश्नर इंडियन एक्सप्रेस के आर्टिकल में लिख रहे हैं कि As a Christian, today he feels scared. Where have we reached?
क्या ये अच्छे दिन हैं,जहां एक फॉर्मर पुलिस कमिश्नर को लिखना पड़ रहा है कि आज वह एक भारतीय है या नहीं, उसे यह कहने में डर है। मैं मिनिस्ट्री ऑफ होम अफेयर्स से प्रार्थना करता हूं कि आपका दायित्व बनता है कि इस देश में शांति आए। जैसा कि अमेरिका के पूर्व राट्रपति मार्टिन लूथर किंग ने कहा कि शांति का मतलब सिर्फ लड़ाई से नहीं है, दुनिया में शांति तब होती है, देश में शांति तब होती है, जब सबको जीने का हक मिलता है, सबको जस्टिस मिलता है। आज कुछ लोगों को लगता है कि भगवान सिर्फ एक ही धर्म में है, अन्य धर्मों में नहीं है। भगवान सिर्फ मंदिर में है, मस्जिद में नहीं है,चर्च में नहीं है। उनको मैं कहना चाहता हूं कि जब नरसिंह जैसा कृण का अवतार हुआ था तो उन्हीं लोगों को उन्होंने कुचला था, जो कहते हैं कि भगवान सिर्फ मंदिर में है।
महाराजा प्रह्लाद जी ने कहा था कि भगवान सब में है। भगवान मुझ में हैं,भगवान आप में हैं,भगवान हर स्थान पर हैं। इसलिए मैं एक श्लोक कहना चाहता हूं -
"एको देवः सर्वभूतेाष गुढः सर्वव्यापी सर्वभूतान्तरात्मा। कर्माध्यक्षः सर्वलोकधिवासः साक्षी चेता केवलो निर्गुणश्च।।"
भगवान एक है। वह सबके दिलों में रहते हैं। वह सब जगह हैं। वह सर्वश्रेठ आत्मा हैं। वह हम सबको देख रहे हैं। इसलिए मैं आपसे दरख्वास्त करना चाहता हूं कि let us build a peaceful and prosperous India, not an India which is being divided by religions, not an India in which the minority religious groups are feeling threatened and vulnerable.… (Interruptions) आपका दायित्व बनता है, क्योंकि हम भारतीय हैं। We are one and we are everyone! DR. P. VENUGOPAL (TIRUVALLUR): Hon. Speaker, what has been pointed out, if it is true, is highly condemnable. Our Party, the AIADMK, stands for upholding communal harmony. I want to share my views with the hon. Members in this august House. India is a secular country. We uphold the virtue of tolerance. “Secularism” means respect to all religions without hurting each other. All politicians in our multi-Party secular country must avoid glorifying one religion and making loose comments on others. Any politician giving rise to such social tensions must be immediately punished. Recently, a turncoat leader who wants to please the leadership of the ruling Party has made certain observations. It has created social tensions in the social media. It has created tension not only in the media but also within the Party itself! So, I urge upon the Government to take suitable action against that leader who is talking about Muslim and Christian worship places in an offending manner.
