SHRI SRIDHAR KOTAGIRI (ELURU): I would like to bring to your kind notice that there are some new projects which are highly feasible in terms of rate of return and social justice for the Railways which are left behind citing State Government’s contribution reflecting no stake or priority for it. Railways should consider new projects that increase profitability, at least, those that uplift backward areas. Kovvur to Bhadrachalam is one such projects which Railways could take up on its own because of huge saving in travel time between Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad and Bhubaneswar and Bangalore.
I request the Hon'ble Minister of Railways to consider its social responsibility in development of new projects especially backwards areas affected by left wing extremists by using Left-wing Extremists Area Development funds instead of depending on State Government’s Contribution.
