Section 19(5) in The Gujarat Provincial Municipal Corporations Act, 1949
(5)If any casual vacancy occurs in the office of Mayor or Deputy Mayor, the Corporation shall, as soon as convenient after the occurrence of the vacancy, choose one of its member to fill the vacancy and every Mayor or Deputy Mayor so elected shall hold office so long only as the person in whose place he is appointed would have been entitled to hold it if the vacancy had not occurred.[Honoraria, Fees and Allowances] [This heading and Section 19A were inserted by Bombay 80 of 1958, Section 2.]
