Section 2116 in Calcutta Port Act, 1890

2116. Lien for freight preserved after landing of goods, if notice of lien be given.- (1) If the master or owner of any vessel, or his agent, at or before the time of landing from such vessel and goods at any dock, wharf, quay, stage, jetty or pier belonging to the Commissioners shall give to the Commissioners notice in writing that such goods are to remain subject to a lien for freight or other charges payable to the shipowner, to an amount to be mentioned in such notice, such goods, shall continue liable to the same lien (if any) for such charges as they were subject to before the landing thereof.

Goods to be retained in warehouses and sheds until discharge of lien.- (2) Such goods shall be retained either in the warehouses and sheds of the Commissioners or in warehouses licensed under section 16 of the Sea Customs Act, 1878, or with the consent of the Chief Officer of Customs, in the public warehouses at the risk and expense of the owners of the goods, until the lien is discharged as hereinafter mentioned.
