Section 529 in The Punjab Municipal Act, 1999

529. Power to require trees, hedges, etc., to be trimmed.

(1)The Chief Officer of a Municipality may, if he thinks fit, by written notice, require the owner or occupier of any land in the municipal area on which trees, shrubs or hedges are growing to keep the same in a trim condition, and remove any such tree, shrub or hedge, if it poses a danger to public safety or overhangs or obstructs any street causing inconvenience or danger to the passers-by.
(2)If it appears to the Chief Officer that immediate action is necessary for public safety, he may, without notice cause such tree, shrub or hedge to be removed from the land as aforesaid and the expenses thereof shall be paid by the owner or occupier of such land.
