When an order for detention in the custody of the police is passed by a Magistrate other than the District or Sub-Divisional Magistrate he shall forward a copy of his order, with his reasons for making it, to the Magistrate to whom he is immediately subordinate. The Magistrate to whom the copy of the order is sent shall satisfy himself that the order has been made on good and sufficient grounds and that the period of detention allowed is not more than is reasonably sufficient for securing the object in view.
