Section 559(1) in Criminal Courts - Rules and Orders
(1)No payment shall be made by a Criminal Court on the part of Government to any servant of the Government of the Central Provinces and Berar, or to any official of Hyderabad State, or of the Governments of Madras, Bengal, the Punjab, the United Provinces, and Orissa, who is summoned to give evidence, in cases referred to in Rule 558, of facts which have come to his knowledge in his official capacity:Provided that the Court may pay such a witness his actual travelling expenses if the Court is situate within five miles of his headquarters and he is not in receipt of permanent travelling allowance.
