Section 89(2)(a) in The Coal Mines Regulations, 2017

(a)At every landing where it is necessary for persons to pass from one side of the shaft to the other, an adequate bypass shall be provided for enabling them to do so without entering or crossing the shaft and every bypass so provided shall be not less than 1.8 metres high and 1.2 metres wide, which shall be kept clear of all obstructions.
