Section 176(1) in The Coal Mines Regulations, 2017
(1)Subject to the provisions of Central Electricity Authority (Measures relating to Safety and Electric Supply) Regulations, 2010 relating to the use of electric energy in parts of mines in which inflammable gas is likely to occur in quantity sufficient to be indicative of danger, electric lighting from a source of supply external to the lighting unit may be used-(a)on any roadway or place ventilated by intake air; and(b)on any other roadway or place not within 270 meters of the nearest face.
