Section 24(1) in The Nalanda Open University Act, 1995
(1)The University may include the Faculties of Humanities, Social Sciences, Science, Commerce, Law, Education, Engineering and such other Faculties as may be prescribed by the Statutes:Provided that no Faculty shall be created by the Academic Council in respect of any branch of learning for the instruction of which no provision exists in any department of the University or any of its study centres;Provided further that the degrees to be awarded in the Faculties of Humanities and Social Science shall be in Arts.
