Writ Petition has been filed by the petitioner challenging the selection notification issued for the recruitment of Assistant Professors in Tamil Nadu Collegiate Educational Service for Government Arts and Science Colleges – 2010 with respect to Subject Code No.B 10, Wildlife Biology, issued by the third respondent in General and Backward quota, quash the same and consequentially, direct the respondents to consider the Ph.D Degree in Zoology with specialization in Wildlife Biology as equivalent to that of Ph.D., Wildlife Biology in recruiting Assistant Professors for Wildlife Biology.

Today, when the matter is taken up for final disposal, the learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that though the petitioner possessed Ph.D Zoology with specialization of wildlife Biology, the respondents have not considered the same and not called for interview for http://www.judis.nic.in 3 the recruitment of Assistant Professors for Wildlife Biology. Admittedly, the said request made the petitioner has not so far been referred to the Government for equivalency of the said Ph.D., in Wild Life Biology.

The learned counsel for the respondents has chosen to file counter affidavit by stating that the petitioner was not in possession of requisite qualification as per the notification and prospectus i.e., possession of Post Graduate Degree in Wild Life Biology and Ph.D., in Zoology, and hence, the Certificate verification Board treated his candidature as ineligible and not called for interview.

In view of the above submissions, the learned counsel for the petitioner has confined his prayer sought for to the extent that the Ph.D., in Zoology with specialization in Wildlife Biology as equivalent to that of Ph.D. Wildlife Biology in recruiting Assistant Professors for Wildlife Biology. Therefore, this court is of the view that the third respondent is directed to refer to the Government to verify the equivalency of the aforesaid Ph.D., in Zoology with specialization in Wildlife Biology is equivalent to that of the Ph.D. Wildlife Biology. Thereafter, on receipt of the said communication from the third respondent Board, the first respondent is directed to consider and pass appropriate order, on consultation with Tamilnadu Public Service Commission, as expeditiously as possible. http://www.judis.nic.in 4
5. With the above direction, the Writ petition is disposed of. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. No costs.
