(1)In addition to the Central Government, the officers specified in column (2) of Schedule I shall, subject in the provisions of sub-rule (2), be the passport authorities for all purposes of the Act and these rules.(2)[An officer referred to in column (2) of Schedule 1 shall, for the purpose of issue of a passport or travel document, exercise jurisdiction in respect of applications for such issue made by persons residing anywhere in India including the territories specified in the corresponding entries in column 3 of the said Schedule.] [Substituted by Notification No. G.S.R. 1117(E), dated 14.11.2018 (w.e.f. 11.12.1980).]
