DR. THOKCHOM MEINYA (INNER MANIPUR): Immediate withdrawal of the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 is the need of the hour. Manipur Students bodies, CSOs and women of Ima Market protested at Jantar Mantar on 30th of January 2019 demanding the withdrawal of the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) which was hurriedly passed by the Lok Sabha amidst boycott by the principal opposition party. Even on the day of passing the Bill there were complete upsurge in the entire northeast. I strongly condemn the action of Delhi Police arresting and manhandling of our women protesters without woman Police. My Party INC and almost all political Parties in Manipur rushed to the Capital and lobbying for the withdrawal of the Bill. Hence, I strongly urge upon the Union Government to immediately withdraw the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016.
