SHRI R. DHRUVANARAYANA (CHAMARAJANAGAR): Hon. Speaker, Madam, Karnataka State is facing severe drought due to which there is a severe problem of drinking water as well as fodder. In this connection, the hon. Chief Minister of Karnataka had submitted a memorandum seeking financial assistance of Rs. 4,702 crore from the Central Government for kharif crop, but the Central Government sanctioned only Rs. 1,782 crore. The main thing is that they have not released a single paisa. Shri Ananth Kumar is from our State. So, he is aware that out 176 blocks, drought has been declared in 160 blocks. So, we are facing a severe problem. The money has been sanctioned, but it has not been released. Hon. Finance Minister is also very much here. This time, we are facing a problem.
Madam, through you, my humble request to the Government is to release the money as early as possible.

THE MINISTER OF CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS AND MINISTER OF PARLIAMENTARY AFFAIRS (SHRI ANANTHKUMAR): Madam, Many times, Karnataka’s drought situation has been raised in this House. Actually, the hon. Prime Minister gave time to the hon. Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiahji. They have submitted a memorandum also. For that, immediately a high-level meeting was conducted and Rs. 1,782 crore have been allocated. Till now, whatever amounts were due for Karnataka State’s drought-prone farmers from SDRF has been released. This money will also be released forthwith.
Madam, the Government of India is fully with the farmers of Karnataka for their welfare and their assistance.
