(1)Where, after the 19th day of May, 1967 and before the commencement of the Kerala Land Reforms (Amendment) Act, 1969, any tenant has paid or deposited any amount by way of rent, and such amount has been appropriated towards arrears of rent accrued due for the period prior to the 1st day of May, 1966, then notwithstanding anything contained in any law, or in any contract, custom or usage, or in any judgment, decree or order of any court or Land Tribunal, such amount shall be adjusted towards the rent accrued due for the period commencing on the 1st day of May,1966.
