Agricultural calamities are of two kinds (1) wide-spread and (2) local. Famine and drought are considered wide-spread, while frost, rust, hail, locusts and flood are generally local affecting a limited area. On the occurrence of an agricultural calamity, relief is given either by suspension or by remission of rent.
