Section 24 in M.P. Industrial Disputes Rules, 1957

24. Powers of Boards, Courts, Labour Courts and Tribunals.

- In addition to the powers conferred by the Act, Boards, Courts, Labour Courts and Tribunals shall have the same powers as are vested in Civil Court under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, when trying a suit in respect of the following matters, namely :
(a)discovery and inspection;
(b)granting adjournment;
(c)reception of evidence taken on affidavit;
and the Board, Court, Labour Court or Tribunal may summon and examine any person whose evidence appears to it to be material and shall be deemed to be a Civil Court within the meaning of See now [Sections 480 and 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898] [Sections 345 and 346 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (2 of 1974).].
