Title: Need to take suitable steps to check inflation rate. – Laid.
SHRI P.S. GADHAVI (KUTCH): Rate of inflation is increasing day by day and it has crossed 7.5%. Margin of profit in medicines for common poor people by various giant drug companies and traders is exorbitant e.g. retail rate of some medicines is Rs.1.20 for 10 tablets but it is sold in market at the rate of Rs. 26/- and upwards as prices printed on it show such higher rates. Moreover, many times, benefit of tax reduction does not reach to the common man, but burden of slight increase in taxes are passed immediately on the shoulders of common man. After hike in steel prices, oil companies have stopped supply of new gas cylinders. Thus, cumulative effect on inflation has caused unbearable hardship to common poor people.
I, therefore, urge upon the Government of India to take immediate measures to control the rate of inflation and also control the prices of all essential commodities, which are meant for the use of common poor people.
