Seventeenth Loksabha > Title: Regarding setting up of National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) in Madurai, Tamil Nadu-laid.
SHRI S. VENKATESAN (MADURAI): Kind attention of Government is invited towards the long pending delay in the execution of the proposal to establish National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education (NIPER) with the support of the Central Government in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. It was finalized in 2011 to set up NIPER in Madurai with the aim of improving research and development in the pharma sector.
The Government of Tamil Nadu had already allocated 116 acres of land free of cost to set up NIPER in Madurai. A proposal for allocation of adequate fund had been submitted to the central Government. The matter was placed before the 15th Finance Commission in 2018.
In case this long pending proposal in Madurai, Tamil Nadu is executed, it would be a milestone in the pharma industry enhancing pharma courses here.
I would request the Government to look into this issue and take appropriate action at the earliest for setting up of NIPER in Madurai.
