(5)The emoluments to be paid to the Vice-Chancellor, and the terms and conditions subject to which he shall hold office, [shall be such as may be determined by the State Government] [Substituted for 'the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, if any' by Gujarat 10 of 1982, dated 24th February, 1982 (w.r.e.f. 09-12-1981).]:Provided that such emoluments or such terms and conditions shall not, during the currency of the term of the holder of that office, be varied to his disadvantage without his consent.
