Section 27(1) in Gauhati Municipal Corporation Act, 1971
(1)The Chairman or Deputy Chairman of a Standing Committee shall hold office from the time of his election until the election of his successor in office unless in the meantime he resigns his office as Chairman or Deputy Chairman or his term of office as member of the Standing Committee is in any manner terminated
