Section 30 in The Orissa Factories Rules, 1950

30. Lighting of interior parts.

- [(1) The general illumination over those interior parts of a factory where persons are regularly employed shall be not less than six feet candies measured in the horizontal plane at a level of three feet above the floor :Provided that in any such parts in which the mounting height of the light source for general illumination necessarily exceeds twenty-five feet measured from the floor or where the structure of the room or the position or construction of this fixed machinery or plant prevents the uniform attainment of this standard, the general illumination at the said level shall not be less than two feet candles and where the work is actually being done, the illumination shall be not less than six feet candles.] [Substituted vide Orissa Gazette Part III/16.12.1977-SRO No. 834/77/28.11.1977.]
(2)The illumination over those interior parts of the factory over which persons employed pass, shall, when or where a person is passing, be not less than 0.5 foot candies at floor level.
(3)The standard specified in this rule shall be without prejudice to the provision of any additional illumination required to render the lighting sufficient and suitable for the nature of the work.
