Section 723(a) in Police Regulations, Bengal , 1943
(a)When military pioneers or military insanes are made over to civil authorities for escort, they shall be accommodated on railway journeys as follows :-(i)British officers in reserved 1st class compartments.(ii)British other ranks and Indian officers in reserved 2nd class compartments.(iii)Indian other ranks in 3rd class compartments.
