Section 511A in The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation Act, 1981
511A. [ Transitory provision. [Section 511-A, 511-B and 511-C were inserted by Tamil Nadu Municipal Corporation Laws (Amendment and Special Provision) Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 26 of 1994).]
(1)Notwithstanding anything contained in this Act, or in any other law for the time being in force, the Government may, by notification, if necessary, appoint a Special Officer to exercise the powers and discharge the functions of the corporation until the day on which the first meeting of the council is held after ordinary elections to the corporation after the commencement of the Tamil Nadu Municipal Corporation Laws (Amendment and Special Provision) Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 26 of 1994).(2)The Special Officer appointed under sub-section (1) shall hold office only for six months from the date of the commencement of the Tamil Nadu Municipal Corporation Laws (Amendment and Special Provision) Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 26 of 1994) [up to the 31st day of December 1996 or such shorter period as the Government may, by notification, specify in this behalf].
