Section 27(1) in Delhi Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 2004
(1)Subject to the provisions of section 24 of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958 (24 of 1958), where the Director has reasons to believe that any area, not being a protected area, contains ruins or relics so historical or archaeological importance, he or an officer authorized by him in this behalf may, after giving notice in writing to the Deputy Commissioner of the area concerned and the owner enter upon and make excavations in this area.
