Section 144 in The Naval Ceremonial, Conditions Of Service And Miscellaneous Regulations, 1964

144. [ Seniority of Officers-Sub-Lieutenant and Below. [Substitued by S.R.O. 199, dated 10th December, 1969]

- The relative position in the Navy List of officers of the same seniority in the rank shall be determined in alphabetical order.
(2)Lieutenants. - Seniority as Lieutenant shall be determined on the basis of time gained or lost during initial training. Officers of the same seniority as Lieutenants shall be placed in the Naval List in accordance with their date of commission. If the date or commission also happens to be the same, then the age shall determine the relative position in the Navy List, that is to say, the order, the senior.
(3)Lieutenant Commanders and above. - If two officers are promoted on the same date, they shall retain the same relative position in the Navy List as in their previous rank.]
