Section 284(1) in The Naval Ceremonial, Conditions Of Service And Miscellaneous Regulations, 1964
(1)Regular swimming classes shall be held in the training establishments. All boys and newly entered men shall be encouraged to learn swimming and to pass the Standard Test (which is a compulsory qualification for [Promotion] [Substitued by S.R.O. 361, dated 10th November, 1975] to Leading [Seaman] [Substitued by S.R.O. 192, dated 10th August, 1973], Acting Artificer 4th class in the case of Artificers) before leaving the training establishments.
