Section 2 in Family Courts (Other Qualification for appointment of Judges) Rules, 1988

2. Other qualifications for appointment of a Judge.

- A person shall not be qualified for appointment as a Judge of a Family Court unless he fulfills the conditions specified in clause (a) or clause (b) of sub-section (3) of section 4 of the Family Courts Act, 1984 (66 of 1984) or possess the following other qualifications, namely:-
(i)a Post-Graduate in Law with specialisation in Personal Laws;
Ora Post-Graduate degree in Social Sciences such as Master of Social Welfare, Sociology, Psychology/Philosophy with a Degree in Law; and
(ii)at least seven years experience in field work/research or of teaching in a Government Department or in a College/University or a comparable academic institute, with special reference to problem of women and children;
Orseven years' experience in the examination and/or application of Central/State Laws relating to marriage, divorce, maintenance, guardianship, adoption and other family disputes.
