Section 1 in The Slum Areas (Improvement And Clearance) Act, 1956
1. Short title, extent and commencement.—
(1)This Act may be called the Slum Areas (Improvement and Clearance) Act, 1956.(2)It extends to all Union territories except the Union territories of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the Laccadive, Minicoy and Amindivi Islands.(3)It shall come into force in a Union territory on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint; and different dates may be appointed for different Union territories.
