Section 48(1) in West Bengal Shops and Establishments Rules, 1964
(1)Every shop-keeper and every employer shall maintain a visit book in which an Inspector visiting the shop or the establishment, as the case may be, may record his remarks regarding any defects that may come to light at the time of his visit or give directions regarding production of any documents required to be maintained or produced under the provisions of the Act and these rules :Provided that where the Inspector has no remarks to offer, he shall merely enter the date and time of his visit and sign on the book.
