Section 167(1)(b) in The Naval Ceremonial, Conditions Of Service And Miscellaneous Regulations, 1964

(b)Officers failing in one or two principal subjects in General Education Course in the first attempt may be allowed to do the course again in those subjects but they shall lose their seniority in the rank of Instructor Sub-Lieutenants by one month for each subject in which they fail.
