- In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires,-(a)"Act" means the National Food Security Act, 2013 (Central Act No. 20 of 2013);(b)"Appellant" means a party which makes an appeal against the order of the District Grievance Redressal Officer;(c)"Competent Authority" means the District Food and Supplies Controller (Licencing Authority) in case of a Fair Price Shop Owner and the Principal Secretary or the Secretary or the Director as the case may, of any of the concerned department of the Government of Punjab as per the Service Rules in case of Government officials;(d)"Department" means the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs;(e)"District Grievance Redressal Officer" means an officer appointed or designated as such under subsection (1) of section 15;(f)"State Food Commission" means the Commission to be constituted by the State Government under Section 16 of the Act;(g)"State Government" means the Government of the State of Punjab in the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs; and(h)The words and expressions used in these rules and not defined shall have the same meaning as assigned to them in the Act.
