Section 52(16)(a) in The Insurance Regulatory And Development Authority (Conditions Of Service Of Officers And Other Employees) Regulations, 2000

(a)When the case for the disciplinary authority is closed, the officer and other employee shall be required to state his defence, orally or in writing, as he may prefer.
