(1)Nothing in this Act shall apply to any vessels belonging to the Central Government or any State Government or Corporation owned or controlled by the Central Government or the State Government which are being used for the purposes of survey and research.(2)Where the State Government is of the opinion that it is necessary so to do in the public interest, it may by notification in the Official Gazette, exempt subject to such conditions, such class or classes of fishing vessels used for fishing in any specified area and for such period as it may specify in the notification, from all or any of the provisions of this Act.
