Section 3(3) in The Madurai City Municipal Corporation Act, 1971
(3)For the efficient performance of the functions of the corporation, there shall be the following municipal authorities of the corporation, namely:-(a)[ a Mayor; [Substituted by Tamil Nadu Act 38 of 2008.](aa)a council;](b)standing committees, [xxx] [The word 'and' omitted by Tamil Nadu Act 26 of 1994.](bb)[ the wards committee, and (c) a Commissioner.] [Clause (bb) inserted by Tamil Nadu Act 26 of 1994.]
