Section 157 in The Chandernagore Municipal Corporation Act, 1990
157. Public water-works etc. to vest in the Corporation.
- All public tanks, reservoirs, cisterns, wells, tubewells, aqueducts, conduits, tunnels, pipes, taps and other waterworks, whether made, laid or erected at the cost of the Municipal Fund or otherwise, and all bridges, buildings engines, works, materials and things, connected therewith or appertaining thereto, and also any adjacent land (not being private property) appertaining to any public tanks, which is situated in Chandernagore, shall vest in the Corporation:Provided that the Corporation may, with the approval of the State Government, make over the water-works for development and maintenance to a separate and independent agency and it shall be lawful for such agency to construct or acquire new water-works.
