- For the purposes of Chapters VII and VIII of this Act, the Government may appoint such officers as may from time to time appear necessary. Such officers shall be designated "Commissioner of Survey Settlement", "Commissioner of Land Records", "Assistant Commissioner of Survey Settlement", "Assistant Commissioner of Land Records" or otherwise as may appear requisite, and they shall be subordinate to one another in such order as the Government may fix.Subject to the orders of the Government all matters, connected with survey and settlement, shall relate to the officers so appointed and they shall exercise and perform all such powers and duties as have been fixed by this Act or any other law for the time being in force.
