SHRIMATI MAUSAM NOOR (MALDAHA): I would like to draw the attention of the Government towards an issue that has affected the progress of development projects in my constituency, Maldaha Uttar. The Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) projects are more or less stalled due to the non-revising of tender rates for the projects to be executed under PMGSY. The non-revising of tender rates has prompted people from refraining to even apply for contracts as they deem it to be financially unviable.
The Government must thus take a realistic view and immediately revise the tender rates competitively while considering the rise in cost for projects so that PMGSY projects could be timely executed and the amount sanctioned be utilized which is getting lapsed. There must also be a national mechanism for proactively and competitively determining the rates for tenders for development works so that such projects benefitting the rural poor are no longer stalled.
