Section 6(2) in The Special Rules for the Mulit-storeyed and Public Buildings, 1974
(2)In buildings of such size, arrangement or occupancy that a fire may not itself provide adequate warning to occupants, automatic fire detecting and alarm facilities shall be provided where necessary to warn occupants of the existence of fire, so that they may escape, or to facilitate the orderly conduct of fire exist drills.
