Section 7(1) in The Punjab Municipal Corporation Act, 1976
(1)Every Municipal Corporation, save as otherwise provided in this Act, shall continue for five years from the date appointed for its first meeting and no longer.Explanation. - In this section "first meeting" shall mean the meeting of the newly constituted Corporation held for the election of its Mayor and Deputy Mayor under section 38 of this Act.
