Regarding Ease Ban On Onion Export on 15 September, 2020
Seventeenth Loksabha > Title: Regarding ease ban on onion export *DR. BHARTI PRAVIN PAWAR (DINDORI): During this Corona pandemic for the last 4 to 5 months, our famers are facing hardships. They are not getting remunerative and fair prices for their agriculture produces. Yesterday, Government declared ban on export of onions. That is why the prices of onions have come down drastically and the farmers have landed in trouble. A good quality of onions are grown not only in Nasik district but, everywhere in Maharashtra. The economy here is largely based on onion crop and as of now, farmers have a huge crop of onion in storage. Asia’s largest onion market is situated in Nasik district. Hon’ble Speaker Sir, through you, I would like to request Hon’ble Agriculture Minister to lift the ban on export of onion and give a relief to farmers immediately. The onion containers waiting for clearance at Bangladesh border and different ports should be cleared at once. Thank you.
